Question gt-40 intake?

ok i have a few questions about gt-40 intakes for you guys
1) what vehicle does the tubular gt-40 intake come from?
2) is there any difference besides looks between the tubular gt-40 and the normal gt-40?
3) and also what do i need to do to fit the tubular gt-40 onto my 93 gt? I heard something about drilling and tapping a hole?

thanks for all the help on this guys!

they were sold only by Ford Racing and dealers of Ford Racing only they didn't come on any vehicles that I can remember. the uppers did flow a bit better but not much I think it was due to the smooth walls of the pipes unlike the cast finish of a Cobra but the Tubular GT40 upper cant be ported like the cobra. As far as install I don't think there is anything real different to do.

I want to say they came on the 1st Gen Lightnings, so the upper would work from one of them then you would have to find a lower from an explorer or Cobra.

O ok ya I saw one on a 94 lightning before and they are 351 windsor's so I would have to find a cobra lower but I read something before about drilling and tapping a hole for the act sensor? Also can I use the stock trottle body until I can buy a new one? Thanks guys

i dont think you have to tap a hole for the act, atleast on mine it was already there. you may have to plug up a vac line or reroute it on the underneath of the upper intake (its been a while, so i dont recall). but your throttle body will work just fine.

The only vehicle that came with the tubular upper is the 93-95 F150 Lightning.

You don't have to get a cobra lower you can also use a explorer lower.

As far as drilling for the ACT sensor that depends on the lower you get.
I'm still using my stock throttle body and its going on 3 yrs now.
The only thing you may have to do if you still have your charcoal cannister is to cut into you vacuum line and add a T because there are any provision for the Vacuum line for the charcoal cannister.
You can also use the stock bolts they will work perfectly unless your going to use a spacer.
