Well I have the mustang going but I am in need of a transmission. I knew that it wouldn't take long for my stock AOD to go but I didn't expect it to go this fast, I've only driven it a total of about 8 miles! I have 1300 dollars saved so far for the street bruiser Lentech AOD which costs 2600$. Would I be better off just converting it to a manual as far as costs are concerned?

how much more you gone to do to the car? if you are gone to be adding a power adder I would just stay with the AOD. if you are gone to stay with what you got then I may put a stick in it. I myself like a auto over a stick and the older I get the more I like the auto. But the AODs do suck up some HP

It's really personal opinion. I spent roughly 2200 on a complete aode to tko swap, and I could of found an auto to throw in that could of handled the power but I love driving a manual car. I don't regret it at all. But if you decide you want more of a strip car I'd go aod with a higher stall converter. Or if it's street/strip like mine I'd go 5/6 sp swap.

its not that bad to do, i did it myself 2 years ago, took me about 3 weeks (most of that time i was waiting for parts to come in that i forgot about)
SO ya i would also say its personal opinion on what you want to do,
But if you want to do a manual swap, i happen to have a tko600 im trying to unload, along with pretty much every single part you would need to do the swap! pm me if interested
if you are gone to S/C it I would stay with the auto trust me they are fun with a boosted car not near as hard on parts and easier to get to hook on the street and track. Yes the C-4 can be done for a lot less $ but no OD and that takes some fun out of it I run a C4 but I only run 331 gears with a 28 in tall tire. it did have 373 with the old S/C and I really didn't like driving it on the highway a lot. We are gone to change over to a AOD one day when the $$$ starts to flow again. and I am looking forward to doing it I think I can pick up a few MPG when I do cuz we drive the car alot more then we use to. If you want to leave like a stick at the track get a trans. brake
