i have a 1990 mustang with a 2.3l (slow as hell!) i was wondering if a t5 from a f-150 is the same or has the same gear ratios as a mustang t5 and if anyone has done a 5.0 swap i already have the 8.8 under the car it has limited slip and 373 gears i know i need an engine bay harness and a a9l computer but not sure about the transmission crossmember if any advice about a the swap please post thanks.

well due to a lack of extra income at the moment i have been doing things that dont cost much but keep me busy, i have torn out the interior and I'm slowing restoring the interior as it was nasty, and I'm starting on the body work.....as far the the motor swap goes, lets just say the 4 cylindar is still in the car and running

I did the swap. I had to move my fuel lines from the left side of the car over to the right side. I put an AOD in(which will soon come out, converting to a manual)and I had to use a different crossmember. I used an aftermarket 255lph fuel pump as well. anymore questions, I will help based on my experience with it.

so did you change your wiring harness because i heard you could change the engine bay harness and it just plugs in somewhere under the dash im not sure about this i could be wrong but thats pretty much my fear right now oh and also mine came with a five speed do i need to change the crossmember for the stronger t5 or are they the same im thinkin there the same but not sure i know the driveshaft will work.
oh do you have any pics of your engine or the swap it would be cool to see some and are you using the stock 4 banger suspension?

no the f-150 tranny can't be used, and if your rice popper stang had a manual tranny it should already have a double hump crossmember, my 92 was a 4 banger, I used an 85 gt to do the swap

The engine bay harness runs into the passenger side of the car just like the four cylinder. I actually changed the dash harness because I pulled everything from a donor car and I wanted the grey dash. It was easier for me to do that. I'm not sure if everything is exactly the same but when I pulled it I did notice that everything was pretty darn close. I want to say that the headlight setups were different but that is because I had fog lights. to sum up, I think you'll be fine with leaving the dash harness.

EDIT: yes I am using the stock suspension up front with struts from a 95 gt. I needed them for the 5lug conversion. the back all came out of the donor car.
