Painting the interior?

Painting the interior?
I saw a thread about someone wanting to pull their center console to paint it and it got me thinking.
I have a few questions for those that have painted their interiors.
1. What did you use?
2. What process did you go through when painting?
3. Did you use any sort of clear over the paint?
4. How easy does it scratch or rub off?
5. Is it durable enough to be worth the hours of work it takes to do it?

i havent seen it done on a 5.0 but i have seen it done on other cars
about ~ 3 and they have all been ****ty jobs, one was painted in the car - with spray paint
the other one look like buddy tried to sand it to get the paint to stick and it looked badd scratches all over
and the last was my buddy and he messed up really bad :S but it was in a civic haha
I wouldnt recomend it.
I've seen dash's or centre consoles for like cheap? I think it would be worth it to try it on a spare and experiment!
i've seens center concsoles for like 20 bucks on kijiji. or junkyard maybe?
try it ou?

I bought factory color paint from 50 resto. They have different paint for plastics and vinyl. I painted the console in my wifes vert and if came out great. That was about 3 years ago and it still looks good.

I second the spray dye that LRS has, I used it to frshen up the dash when it was out for a heater core replacement and the rear quarter panels when they were out for the 1/4 windows swap. Matched perfectly.
