Question maintaing rust once it starts?

I know on all the older mustangs most cars have some rust underneath them.So what do we do to try to control the problem besides not driving in rain and of course in the winter time where there's snow and ice? They say never undercoat the car once rust is already there that it makes it worse......

Well you can get under the car with a wire wheel to remove what surface rust there is and then undercoat it so it doesn't get worse. There are coatings that work great such as POR-15 that works on top of rust.

I saw a '67 Mustang last month that I had used POR15 on in 1995. There was a slight surface rust and I put the POR15 right over it.
Last month when I saw the car there was still no rust.........

i por-15'd everything under my car. my car is a canadian car so it has seen salt. it works great. paints over rust and makes it look like new.dries on hard .all you gotta do is scrape any loose stuff off wash it let it dry and paint it on.don't bother wasting your money on the degreaser and metal prep they sell.i used em and they didn't do anything.but really it's amazing stuff.everyone i've shown has bought some for thier crap. let some dry in a bowl i was using and it made like another bowl inside that i couldn't rip. don't get it on your skin, nothing takes it off.went to a wedding with black wrists and fingers. wife was not happy.took 3 weeks to come off.
