Default oil change ? quick responce appreciated

so i just changed my oil after the car was sitting for a week in the garage , didnt even pull it out ...

yes i undid both bolts to the oil pan and the filter ...

i replaced 4 quarts and my dipstick read more than full ...

6 months ago when i changed the oil it took about 4 and a quarter quarts and it read full ...

now i know some oil stays in the engine but a full quart ????

any one else come across this situation ???

also after you change the oil is it ok to just leave the car there or should i atleast run it at idle till it warms up ?????

thanks fellas

no my dumbass did not .. for some reason i just assumed if the car has been sitting then atleast the oil would just be all sitting in the pan .. but i was just reading my chiltons and it said i should have let the car warm up first..
so now im guessin i have a quart of dirty oil still in there rather than say the half quart that would have been left in the engine ..

if you pull both plugs, and change the filter, the oil will all be out.

when you fill it back up, you add 5 (five) quarts, install the new filter, and start the car.

let it run for 15-20 seconds so you can be sure there are no leaks (oil filter gasket) and that the oil pressure comes up.

check the oil. it should be dead on. If it reads WAY overful, i'd suspect an incorrect dipstick for your motor, possibly out of another year of another car...

bottom line, fox 5.0's, sn95 5.0's.... FIVE quarts of oil with the filter changed

Couldnt say it any better, a buddy of mine only put in 4qts because his dipstick read full I told him add 5 and put a new mark on his dipstick because he must have had the wrong one.

Run the engine before you drain the oil. A warm drain is better.
Good practise to prefill the oil filter too. Then run the engine for a few seconds and check the dipstick.
