Default Power Tour 2010 Ride

I know its not a mustang but it is a fox platform so if any of the mods don't want me to post this let me know.

The car is a 1979 Mercury Zephyr Wagon. I wanted a wagon after the 09 power tour. I looked all over for a clean one but they are hard to find (I'm guessing most of them got crushed). I went all the way to Wis. to get this pile. I bought it as you see in the first set of pics as a roller for the ridiculous price of $200 and a couple tanks of diesel.

I have a budget of $2500 for this thing, and have to have it ready to roll cross country by June 5th. Lucky for me power tour is starting 40 minutes for my house this year.

I bought a donor car for the drivetrain, it was a 89 Lincoln Mark VII it has a measley 170,000 on it but we are going to trust it. I gave $700 for it but sold the scrap and wheels for $100. The car had full exhaust and some other bolt ons

Nice for a sleeper and that interior, OMG porno red. So popular back then. I had an 82 capri w/ the same color interior.

G/L with it.

Here's the motor/aod in the car just sitting in there. I have battled with myself over keeping fuel injected or putting a carb on it. I have come to the decision of keeping it fuel injected, I will be keeping it speed density.

Here are the wheels I will be running. I bought them off c-list for $200 with good tires.

I went to put the tranny crossmember and found that the crossmember is 3 inches to far forward. So much for this being a bolt on car!! I had to cut the crossmember in for spots angle everything and fill it and weld it.

Here is a picture of the batwing.

Every fox needs subframe connectors. I'm sure they sell a set for this thing but what fun would that be. I had a 10' stick of 1 1/2 box 1/8th wall left over from another project but I cost $10 plus a can of dollar store black paint.
The connectors are 54" long. I pie cut them(welded the cuts after install) in 2 places to get them to conform to the front and rear rails. I used a piece of plate on the inner rears because of how the rear rails wrap around each other.

Not bad for $11.

What are you doing for paint? White would look great IMO. Are those wheels off of an S197 or an sn95? Usually I can tell by the depth of the spokes but for what ever reason I can't. If they are off an S197 you will need wheel spacers.

The wheels are off of a 99+, so i should be fine. As far as paint I think it is going red. I thought about white, we will see what happens.

paint it white. then when i buy that other white fox with red interior we can run em. you'll be the original, and i'll be the evolved. of course mine would be superior.

Swapped the rear end tonight. I put the 8.8 out of the lincoln (same width as a svo/saleen) in and with the bullitts it fits. It is really tight but I think it will be fine. I can put my finger between whats left of the wheel and tire. *Note* I have not touched the body on this thing yet the fender lip trimming was done by the p.o.

Here is the power panel that I made for the fuel injection. I will be mounting it under the passenger seat because the kick panel area in this car is different than a mustang. Been moving a little slow on the build, due to the fact that I am gathering parts and getting everything ready for winter..
