yes '95 was last year but after '92 they stopped using forged pistons
i think that the '89 cars ran best, some will argue that an '87/'88 speed density car will run fastest.... it's close
i can say my '89 truly kicked the crap outta my current '93... by a lot too, about 5-6 tenths slower in this car and it sixties better than the '89 so go figure

dont quote me on this but I do believe 87-92 GT's were rated at 225 HP and 300 Ft/Lbs of tourqe. The 93 GT was rated at 205 HP not sure about TQ. The 94-95 Gt's were 215HP and 285TQ. I'm not familiar with pre-87 cars so I dont know what they had for hp

did not have a different exhaust, the heads were NOT SVO... the aluminum counterparts were an SVO production item

Valve lift was not due to larger lift at the cam, it was due to the 1.7 rockers. duration and LSA were different, as were valvetrain timing events

im kinda saddened that you did not list the 1994-1995 engines
