Some pictures of my ride, and a question about body work
Well, after having this car for 15 months, I'm finally the proud owner of a digital camera! lol
so anyway heres some pics of it, plus a few shots of the rust I'm struggling to deal with, as both spots are in very bad spots, as far as I'm concerned.
If anyone here is proficient in body work, please attempt to guide me in the battle against rust. I've already grinded down and sanded the rough loose stuff, and POR-15'd both spots, but dumbass me forgot to at least primer, so... a little more surface rust has begun to appear on the freshly sanded metal.
I'm still trying to figure out how to correctly focus the camera in close-up situations, so better pictures of the rust should be up tomorrow.
The entire interior of this car is brand new, but the car has been sitting, neglected, in my driveway since I bought it, so a bit of mold has started to appear on the seats and steering wheel, because my sunroof leaks, as you can probably tell by the bead of silicone going around the sunroof. lol.
This is 1 of the rust spots, directly next to the sunroof, on the passenger side.
This is the other spot, on the windshield channel, also on the passenger side. The pictures of this spot don't really do the justice that they should, as this spot is actually an indented hole in the channel, sort of like a golf divot.

yeah your gonna have to cut the rust out where the holes are and weld new metal then apply filler over that or you will just have the rust come back down the body looks like itwill be fun i did alot on mine

i think between my neighbor's welding/metal tools, and my steady hands, i could take care of the roof, the problem here is that the windshield channel is a critical structural piece, and improper repair of it could cause the car to twist a bit, and its fair to say i don't have the cash to pay a body shop to fix it.
its actually a divot taken right out of the channel, like someone heated it to molten temperatures and scooped it with a spoon. how it got like that, i havn't a clue.

Depending on how committed you are to this car, you may want to consider buying an entire rust free roof section (possibly without the sunroof) and having it professionally installed.
I helped a friend do this a few years ago and it wasn't as pricy as we thought. Shops can give good deals when times are slow for them.
Keep in mind that for the rust that we can see there is a lot more that we can't. That upper roof area has rotted out from the inside out.
My friend first bought the replacement roof and then saved up over the winter and had it installed. Shop around and see what's going on.
A mere patch job will only get you so far - but that may only be as far as you want to go.
Good luck with it!
