Default What rear end oil?

I just picked up 2 L of Pennzoil synthetic 80/90w gear oil and a bottle of ac delco friction modifier. The parts person at lordco said my car takes 80/90w but it seems you guys run 75/90? Am i ok with this stuff? Also how much of the friction modifier do I put in and do I need to replace the diff cover gasket ? And how much do i put in or do i just fill it to the top fill hole?

Use the entire bottle of friction modifier.

I use 80w-90 Lucas gear oil, you're fine.

Use silicone for the differential gasket... those pre made ones always **** the bed.

Fill it to the point that you stick your pinky in the fill hole and you can feel the oil. Basically fill it to the hole.

Ok I just found out its not the synthetic stuff its called penzzoil gear plus. And i just found on the back that it says it does not need a limited slip top treatment nor is one recommended? So I dont need the friction modifier?

Lucas has modifier in it, but I still added half a tube of modifier just to be safe.

Do what you feel is necessary.

I run 75-90 in mine and just for good measure often add the modifier even if not needed, heck...if it chatters around corners after the fact, then you know you need it

Friction modifier is friction modifier. I think I used that Trans-X crap from autozone... I can't remember the name.

Ford product has to be the nastiest smelling hands down. Use it and you will know without looking if the rear ever springs a leak.

Any friction modifier smells like rotten a$s. How bout this... I was transporting my rear end to a stang shop to have the axle tubes welded and the gears installed.

It was in the back of my cavalier, but despite having a towel in the empty carrier it leaked diff oil on the middle of the backseat.

OH BOY that car smells fantastic when I get out of work after a hot summer day.
