Default anyone used a 50resto economy shortblock before?

I have a bad rod bearing or piston slap in the bottom end of my engine so its time for a different bottom end. In searching for options, I saw that 50resto has economic roller shortblocks for only 700 bucks. Thought they looked like a good deal, but having aluminum cast pistons defnitely made me think twice about it.

Anyways, was wondering if anyone on here has used them before and how strong are they? Even with my current power level, probably making around 330 crank, would one of these hold up very long or would I just bust a piston?

^^^in gen disc I'd buy a better built one, unless of course your goal is as the block states ...ie "economy"

your probably best rebuilding your current motor.

The only decent machine shop I know around here wants like 1800 bucks for basically a stock rebuild. Then I know there are places like coast high performance where I can get a decent stroker for a little over 2 grand, but I don't see the point of putting strong internals in the factory block when it will just crack in half at anywhere from 400-600 hp seems to vary. Other than getting a cheap one, just getting a dart shortblock for 3500 or more seems like the only reasonable way to go, but I really don't have that kind of money lol.

I know of someone running the block from 50resto here in town thats putting ~435 to the rear wheels and he hasn't had any problems. (from the last i talked to him a couple weeks ago) he has had it for about a year now. Its seen lots of track time and he runs it on the streets. He has a procharger on, not sure on what kind of boost though.

Does he have the cast piston one for 700 or the forged piston one for 1280?
