Matt was not being ignorant, maybe he was a bit harsh on your sentence structure, but IMO people should try a little harder to write a decent post. You gave some pretty poor advice, nothing you suggested will do a thing on a stock engine.

Ditto, plus did everyone fail to notice he said 83 5.0 so if stock 4bbl carb, cast-iron exhaust manifolds, single exhaust with dual tip.

Need to know what if any modifications have been done to it. Or is it bone stock.

Even for gear suggestions it is most likely still a 7.5 rear-end and what transmission SROD, T-5 or Auto?

Sorry to put this thread back on track.

Sorry I'm new to this, but what do you mean by "gears"? Do you mean changing the gear ratio of the tranny? I have most of the common mods like headers and performance exhaust, but I'm not really sure what else would really help. I've heard a lot of talk about superchargers and turbos, while I probably don't have the money for that, what are the pros and cons of them? I really appreciate your guy's input.

"gears" refer to the ring and pinion in the rear end

The higher gear ratio 4.10 very good acceleration very poor top speed mpg go down the tube the lower the gear ratio poor acceleration but better mpg and higher top speed.

you are mis informed sir.

mpg city or highway? with what tire size? tranny ratio? what peak rpm? properly set up you can have great acceleration and good mpg.
