Default 1988 T-Top Mustang

Hello Fox Body 5.0L members . I have a question that I can't seem to have answered(yet). My question is concerning the 1988 T-Top Mustang. The 1987-88s are the last of the Fox generation to receive T-Tops and from my research I've noticed that the door mirrors on the 1988 convertibles changed to a "flag" shaped mirror(and stayed the way through the end of the line '93 models). I've noticed the the '88 model with T-Tops have these exact mirrors, but sunroof & steel topped ones have the A-pillar mounted type, as did all Mustangs from '79 on(save for the '88-'93 convertibles). Are the "flag" style mirrors correct for the 1988 T-Top equipped cars? I'm looking at an '88 GT on eBay with T-Tops and wanted to know if these "flag" mirrors are original or did someone change the doors? Thanks in advance

The T-Top and convertible cars shared the same door modifications and mirrors, if my memory is correct and as my few reference books hint at, the T-Top cars where done by Cars and Concepts (who did the 3 T-Top 1979 Official Indy Pace Cars) as where all 83 - 93 convertibles. The 87 model year convertibles have the window mounted mirrors as in this picture from a 1987 dealers brochure I have.

For 1988 convertibles changed over to the stalk mounted or "flag" mirrors as did the T-Top cars. It is estimated that only about 800 1988 T-Top cars where built, and at the time the T-Top option was an $1800 add on.

The T-Top is not even shown in the 87' brochure but is listed as an option on page 16. "The next best things to a convertible - The T-roof and flip-up open-air roof give you a way to soak up the warm weather in your Mustang hatchback"

Hope this was helpful.

Some 87 vert an t-top have the flag mirrors on them too, but they are very hard to find. My 87 had the window mounted on it but my buddies 87 vert had the flags on it.
