Default New Electric Fan/thermostat opinion

Alright so i got myself a black magic electric fan that a friend had an extra of from rebuilding his fox, i'm looking into gettin the relay switch for it and the ones i'm lookin at are based on the thermostat settings, with that being said i was just going to replace the thermo as well since i have no idea what temp setting its at.

I live in so cal, gets pretty hot in the summer, which is now, so should i go with the 180 or 195 thermo?

The relay made to work with a 180 deg thermostat and will come on @ 185 and off @170.
The relay made to work with a 195 deg therm. and will com on @200 and off @ 185.

Thanks.

I am using the 180, it seems to be just fine. SBF's don't like heat.

Check out ronfrancis.com for some high quality wiring harnesses for electric fans. Buy good quality stuff the cheapo chinese junk will leave you on the side of the road.
Go with the 180 stat

Where did you get this information from?

It's all wrong.

^ I think he is using the term relay instead of temp switch. And as i read it he means the switch for a 180 stat will run the fan between those temps and so on for the other.

Well then it's still wrong. An electric fan is meant to pull down temperatures above thermostat temperature.

If you try to pull the temperature of a 180 deg thermostat below 180. It will never get there. So the fan will run forever.

The OFF temperature MUST be above your thermostat temperature.
