I have a $1,200 budget to make my 1991 LX faster. Any ideas?

Default I have a $1,200 budget to make my 1991 LX faster. Any ideas?

I have a 1991 Mustang LX Auto with a Trick Flow Intake, E303 Cam, Accufab Throttle, BBK headers, off road x-pipe and stock 2.73 gears. Wanting to make the car as fast as I can on the $1,200 I have to spend? I will be installing all of the parts myself. The car currently runs 9.2s in the 1/8th with no launch at all. Any ideas on what I can do?

Gears would be the first mod that should be done to your car and since its an automatic I would go with some 4:10's.

What time could I expect with 4.10s or 4.30s? It currently runs 9.2s all day long. What are some other mods I could do?

Do you have long tube headers or shorty headers?

I would save up another grand and piece together a S/C. With that 1200 bucks you can buy a used headunit and intercooler right now on corral.net. Just my two cents..

Since its a automatic i`d opt for a stall converter gear and drag radials (3.55-4.10) dont go any lower!

tires run about 400$ for both back depending on size ofcourse, tq converter about 400$ for a decent nitrous preped 3500rpm stall, and the gears you can get for about 200$ that leaves and additional 200$ for misc stuff!

gear will help alone but if you have alot of mods on an automatic with no way to leave higher than 1800rpm you cant benefit from any of your thousands of dollars spent!

truthfully stall and tires will drop maybe 2/10ths!

you could do stall tires and some spray and get even more!

My opinion being an automatic guy myself is tires stall and gear! then save about 300$ to go with your 2 thats left and get a good nitrous kit!

the gears ABSOLUTELY have to go

so if i were you..... i would go 1 of 2 ways.

#1) do a t5 swap , you'll be a second faster in the 1/4 mile

#2) 4.10's, 100 shot of nitrous, and a set of et street tires , and that will be a full second to 1.5 seconds faster in the 1/4 mile
