would a stock 302 and an aode with an upgrade shift kit and 2400 stall speed converter be ok with 3.27 gears in the rear end?

because automatic cars are slugs. I ran 3.73's when my car had an AOD. One of my friends did run 3.27 gears in his LX, but that was a 420 Windsor/Powerglide combo with lots of nitrous.
