Default Crate 347 opinions

I am considering a crate 347 for 87 GT. Have been shopping the web for 6 months or so and read some threads here as guest so I decided to sign up. Going to put a new engine in next spring and was wondering if I could get some opinions on crate engine manufacturers. Looking for around 400/400 rwhp. Vendors/engines I have been considering:

DSS Racing Pro Bullet 347 efi (no dyno numbers) approx 8K

Patriot Performance 347 efi (425/410) around 5.5K

Edelbrock Performer 5.0 347 (430/420) around 10K (I think cant find exact engine/quote but similar engines are this price)

Obviously the Patriot engine stands out because of the value so I was wondering if anybody can offer any guidance. Is it worth it to spend the extra money on a DSS or Edelbrock built engine? Anybody have any information about Patriot built crates?

you get what you pay for...cheap does not equal quality/longevity, most likely they are using a stock block and the others aren't??......for 7-8k you could have a turn key motor from fordstrokers.com in a aftermarket block

Patriot says "Seasoned Ford Block". Not sure what that means exactly. Edelbrock uses a Ford Racing Boss block and I think DSS has their own blocks.

I have seen fordstrokers mentioned quite a bit on these forums. Are they a pretty big outfit?

Family owned. Extremely good customer service and the highest quality work. I ordered a DIY Liberator 347 from them September 20 and it should be ready sometime in the middle of November. Check out their website.

Call Woody at Ford Strokers. Seasoned block....used, not new. Of course they check it.

Not very. But Jim does a good job, sales, build, and post sale.
