Default Greetings and check out my new toy!!

Hello all in the 5.0 forum area,

Ive had a few mustangs in my years (87 5.0 Notch (wrecked), 89 5.0 LX (Wrecked), 1993 GT (Sold) and currently I have a 2008 GT and then this weekend............while searching on Craigslist............this happened!!

1991 LX 5.0 Auto Notchback with 189 thousand miles, everything works, runs fine and doesnt seem to even use any oil, and it's stock save for a flowmaster catback. I cant believe I picked this up for $2500, now the laundry list of parts I need to restore the interior.....

Anyways, I suppose I'll be checking in with you guys here in the 5.0 area now that I've returned to my roots. Oh and I almost forgot, January 1, 2011 I'll be able to register her "historic" here in Maryland, which means no emmissions, no inspection, etc.

Yes, I agree, the wing needs to go and Ive already planned an x302 and a five speed conversion for the spring, Im thinking all new parts through LRS and I can do the conversion for $2400, small block for 3500, 1500 for the interior and I'll likely do the Cobra R brakes and 5 lug conversion (2200) thus having just under 10k in the restoration/upgrades and 2500 for the car, less than 12K for a 300 rwhp fox body notch completely restored....thats right up my alley.

Ill try to post the progress as diligently as possible, sometimes I get lazy about taking pictures while working on my cars, you know, hands covered in grease is not a fun time to pull out the camera....

I am considering staying with an auto though, maybe a PA with a mild street stall, say 2400 or so?

Anybody that can chime in with auto experience here would be welcome as Ive never had an auto and I dont plan to track the car, maybe once just to see what it will do but this is mostly a toy, occasional street use, as Im in the company car (CVPI) about 6 days a week.

you aod will be doa as that is what you will have to look forward to, most likely the OD bands will be the first to go once you start cracking on it

whatever you do, don't do a long power brake with that AOD.

My first fox, I went and did a minute long power brake. 4 hours later, 3rd and OD literally came crashing out of my tranny pan.

Anybody running an AOD from Performance Automatic? What kind of power levels would that support?
