rear end questions and input ?
hey i have an 83 5.0, and as u may know it has the weak 7.5 rear end, i want to convert to the 8.8 and i was wondering what gears i should stick in em.
im stuck between the 3.55's and 3.73's i will be highway driving it occasionally and it is mostly an everyday driver in the summer, but i do want some more power out of it
suggestions? and how hard is it to convert to disk brakes. because i believe there will be a problem with the E-brake hook up when u transfer it from drums
thanks fer the help

Picking rear gears is always tough, especially when the ratio is so close. There is no perfect gear for an all purpose car. The general consensus seems to be 3.73 for autos, and 3.55 for sticks.
Unless you're drag racing, you won't notice much differance in the first two gears from either of those choices. Take a look at where you're going to be doing most of your driving. Then pick the gear that puts you in the sweet spot most of the time.
