Default c4 trans ?

Hi guys i'm just about to rebuild my c4 and install a full manual reverse valve body. My question is with that do you need or would it benefit from a shift kit or any short? Since u do ur own shifting? Vb also has a trans brake?
Hope someone can chime in and give some advice.

You will not need a shift kit, a performance/aftermarket valve body=a shift kit on steroids, its already done

No transbrake if you drive this thing every day and dont race it at all....I got TCI's rebuild kit in mine with their Manual Valvebody. I footbrake it and it does me ok. I drive the car occasionally and race it.

If you are going to race the car at all, then install the transbrake when you rebiuld it. If you have good tires/suspension you can shave a 1 to 2 tenths off your 60ft w/a transbrake. What stall/diameter converter are you using? I would install a really good transcooler with an electric fan. Also a trans temp gauge would be a good idea.

Do the trans brake regardless. If you have the money do it. Hey if you never use it then fine. But I gaurantee you will kick yourself if you dont put it in. Plus they are narly. I footbrake mine most of the time because my car wants to put it on the back bumper when I do use it but man its awesome to use!! My car just hooks a little too good if ya know what I am saying, but all in all they are nice to have if you are trying to knock off a few tenths and you dont have an extra pulley or jets laying around!!

thx for all the posts guys. I'm almost done my rebuild its all together except i only have the stock servo's. Now from what i read i should go after market. So i was looking at the after market servos and was wondering do they sell you them both? Intermidate and hi/rev? or do you buy them seperate?
Any thoughts?

What are the rest of your mods? You can use a stock servo with plenty of luck depending on which one you have.

motor is going to be a turbo'd 351w. Well since i'm already into i figured i might as well do it right the first time. I'm just having a few issues with what brand to get and what to stay away from. Also since i live in canada i order all my parts from the states which i have to pay shipping blah blah blah trying to order in big shipments to keep things minimal.

I now have the guts apart and clutches pulled out. I've noticed there is waffled frictions and smooth ones. I've purchased a huges race rebuilt kit and the frictions they give are red alto's but are all smooth. Does this matter?

Second if i could peoples opinion on shifters+cable. Vehicle is a 1988 coupe stang.
I appreciate all the help. Oh and before i forget. I need a pan fed dipstick but i don't know if i should get firewall mount or block/bellhousing mount? kinda young and fumbling my way though i appreciate the patience
