if you want 400 na power a good set of heads id suggest an afr 185 or 205 or a tfs high ports, idk if they can pass a smog test i would imagine with out a power adder 400 n/a hp in cali would be a hard one to get. the kit looks decent id propably get a bit more compression like 11:1 you dont mind running 93? do you?

Make sure you get a main girdle put on to help strengthen the block a bit. As for losing low end torque, it would all depend on the H/C/I combo thrown on as 5.0kid said. I reused my TFS stuff. Torque down low is slightly stronger, but the mid-range pull is much stronger.
It all comes down to your tune and the abuse. If you use a stock block keep your tune safe and dont over rev it... The abuse over time will kill it. The only thing the girdle will do is save your rotating assembly. It will keep your engine together when it does finally decide to split!! A stock block is a stock block, save the extra grand and buy an aftermarket block!! It will be hands down the best investment you make with your build!! Put it this way, you are going to invest in this build hands down anyway, build your engine with a better block and run right around 9:5:1 comp. You can run the absolute **** out of this thing until you save for a blower and you should still make good power at that number!! Hell you can throw a little shot on it until then... You can pick up nitrous kits now a days for pennies on the dollar.
