Need advice on how to build my 5.0

with 150k on the clock, you should get a remanned shortblock.
50resto sells them for about $700.
After that, you could pick up a Holley or TFS top end kit from www.summitracing.com
Doing so will give you an engine that makes about 270-290rwhp, has 0 miles.. and will cost you less than the crate engine.

You could also rebuild the bottom end yourself, and save some of the labor money and spend it on better pistons and maybe rods, and then put the same basic top end kit on it. Depends on whether you want to learn to rebuild your engine(SBF Fords are actually pretty simple to rebuild).

i could probably get it done in several hours if i didnt care about things like checking pushrod length and a few other things, but just slapping it together like ford did back in the day is a no-brainer...

buying a ready to go shortblock and just throwing the top end on it can be done in a weekend
