Default Underdrive Pulley's A Good Decision?

So this coming april i am going to take my 91 lx in for a new transmission and am wondering if some bbk aluminum underdrive pulley's would be a smart addition? Just looking to add a couple light mods while she's under surgery but I don't want to break the bank... Any feedback would help.

P.S. American Muscle is boasting 15 HP gains out of the bbk aluminum underdrives... Is this accurate?

underdrive pullies are never a good desicion. You will free up mpore HP by converting to an electric fan, than youll get from UDP's

I've never used underdrive pullies so you know better than I do. But you said they are "never" a good decision. What is the downside to them? If they free up even 5 HP why not use them if you can afford it?

Do they fail alot the reason you say there not a good decision?

they dont free up any more than 1-2 hp, you wont feel a difference from using them, they will cause your car to have charging system problems, and it slows down your water pump.

There are other things you can put the money towards, that will benefit you more.

Why pay for overheating and having dead batteries, plus having to buy another belt, put it into a better clutch or torque converter if you have an automatic trans.

How can you tell if you have underdrive pullies?

I already suspect a charging problem with my car, but Autozone says the alternator tests good. It has a new battery, starter, coil, plugs, etc. However, when the car is running the voltage gauge fluctuates up and down rather quickly, like it's bouncing. I can't run anything for very long with the car off because it wont restart. It leads me to believe the battery isn't being charged very well or much above what is needed to start the car.
