Default Vortech FMU Review.

I have a vortech v3 8-10lb boost supercharger.. Along with a rebuilt 306, gt40 intake, and flowmaster true duals w/ H pipe, everything else is stock.

I set the base timing at 10 degrees and put the dial at 1.25 on the 6btm and the car has been running GREAT!

Vortech designed the fmu for this kit, sure the bigger injectors and tune would be best, but I just can't stand how everyone bashes FMU's so much. For the average mustang driver/daily driver (not track) the FMU is fine!

I shift no higher than 5k though. Plug tips look good too. Gonna get a A/F gauge soon though and soon I'm going with 42lb injectors and a tune.

that's because you have basically a stock motor, no heads or cam, which is what the kit was designed for, add heads, cam and all the rest of the bolt ons such as tb and a power pipe, ect ect and in the upper rpm's , be careful, I am running an fmu on a 306 with all the bolt ons, heads, cam intake ect ect, I've yet to get it finished, but I have 24's and the fmu and a t-trim with 10 lbs pulley........A fmu is just a bandaid, there comes a point that you can only **** through a hole hard enough before flow/volume is maxed...most likely you have not reached that limit yet with minimal engine mods

Awesome Mjr46.

Got a question for you. If I got 24lb injectors/calibrated FMU for that, bigger mass air meter matched for them, and a bigger TB, and got a meth/water injection kit (your opinion on that?) would that benefit me? Mainly looking for more HP, and injectors/fmu that can support it. I dont really wanna do heads and cam for a while, If I can get to 350-400 with just a blower on the stock motor I wanna do that.

IMO, BY the time you spend all that money, it'd of been cheaper and more simple to just go to 42's...before i would add a meth kit, I'd run a innercooler
