Don't bring your attitude on this forum junior... I won't stand for it. I've got ALOT more experience with this stuff then you do, so you would be wise to listen when I speak.
in all seriousness though, i have a budget, and i woukd have to rent a engine puller, find a shop, im in the middle of nowhere, and if i got 185s it would cost more money for all tht extra work, for what? 50 hp that i dont even want to spend the extra money on? not everyone wants every single hp they can get. i can afford 165s, i cant afford the cam, i dont run into this much money often and i am usually broke any other time, and im not gonna wait months more just to save for a cam, when i dont even want an aftermarket cam, i emailed ed curtis about my goal, i feel a little better about getting advice from him.

The timing cover does not have to come off to do a head swap. Nor do the heads have to come off to do a cam swap. They are two different parts of the engine. Why not just do what you intended to do and see how you like it. You are putting on a small head so, why spend a jack load on a custom cam before you know if you will like it?
