Project Resto Turned Project Ghetto?
Hey guys :P Some of you have seen my recent posts about the 85 ttops i just picked up a bit ago. I got the car for 800 bucks and found out afterwards that it needed a bit more work than i thought! :P No big deal. You get what you pay for!
Anyways i got this car to bring it back to life and restore it BUT it turns out that both floors are rotted to the point where theres holes.. After stripping everything i found that it has been patched before and done pretty sh*tty to..
If i wanted to do this PROPERLY and "restore" this car i would need to replace the floors, get new doors ( they have got previous door skims and are starting to seem rust threw the bottoms ) and the rockers would need attention aswell.
I talked to a few shops and for the price i got quoted i could buy a clean rolling shell and swap everything over and save the time and headaches..
Im thinking i might just patch everything up the best i can.. maybe even rivet it :P i know i know.. dont hate.. its not the best thing to do but im talking about project ghetto.. not project resto anymore :P Hook up the engine and drive the fkin hell out of this thing and have fun with it.. Then in the future make sure i get a clean car and do it properly :P
Whatcha guys think? Project Ghetto? Take everything off it that i can save and scrap the car, spend the money.. send to shop and save it..
heres some pics of the floor.

Thats what happens when the tops leak and the carpet gets soaked....it holds the water. I just pulled my car in the garage earlier after last nights storm and mine started dripping out of the rubber plug in the bottom....but mine leaks because my quarter windows are not sealed lol

OR if you have access to a mig welder/time and patients to learn how to weld and what not, it really wouldnt be to hard to get it all fixed. Then you take POR15 and coat it (rust preventer/stopper) and go from there. Trust me, if you can do this stuff at your place, and learn how to do it yourself, not only with you save a butt load of money, but will also actually learn something thats what ive done

if i were to strip it.. all i could take was the motor, tranny, aluminum drive shaft, loop.. and thats about it.. id have to leave the kyb suspention, 8.8 rear end with 3.73 gears, tires/rims..
but then again i did only pay 800 for the car.. i think 800 would cover those parts i could strip? right?
