Hi all. So i have an 87 gt conv. Stock with headers hpipe and exhaust. i have a new budget of about 2000. Thinking about a good hci combo. I was thinking holley systemax intake tf twisted wedge heads. if ig get 190cc will i have to get new pistons? And im gonna get a custom cam from lunati. Will this get me to a desired 350-400 hp. or get a used 351 and do a similar build on that but may not have enough money for that. Thats where i want to be and im hoping to get there with a good hci combo. please ring in if you have a better combo or any advice. Thanks fellow mustang enthus.

2000 isn't going to get you a H/C/I combo with a custom cam. The systemax kit or even the TFS kit with the 170 heads is about 2500 alone and that is with the smaller heads and usually a stage 1 cam.

I'd focus on the heads and cam though. The gt40 intake make work for your power goals.

You might get lucky and find some decent heads used, but 2000 will likely not be enough.
