My Notch Build
#21
:
I have had no problems with my nitto's. The car doesn't make 600+ hp, so I'm not worried about blowing the tire's off. I've had them at the track, and did pretty darn good for a cheap tire. If I want to get some serious times at the track I'll buy a set of slicks. I know they aren't as good as Mickey's. I've had a set of ET's. These aren't anywhere near that.

Our track (locally) has horrible prep on our test and tune nights. I have not taken the car to a track (like Ennis, San Antonio, Redline in Dallas) that has really good track prep. Frist time down the track:
1st Run (Right Lane) :
1/4- 17.73 @ 87.41 mph
Reaction time-.6568
60ft-2.9466
2nd Run (left Lane) :
1/4- 15.03 @ 91.49 mph
Reaction time-.6946
60ft-2.2701
3rd Run (left lane) :
1/4- 14.84 @ 93.30 mph
Reaction Time-.5289
60ft-2.2309
4th run (left Lane) :
1/4- 14.79 @ 92.50 mph
Reaction Time-.2782
60ft-2.2314
5th run (left lane) :
1/4- 15.26 @ 92.01 mph
Reaction Time-.6206
60ft-2.5801
I would say pretty darn good (14.79 run) for a stock car with just an intake, and full exhaust on radials (new nitto nt555's) @ 32 psi.
So 2.2309 60ft on Nitto's with 32 psi in them on a ****ty track in my opinion is DARN GOOD. Also people that had Mickey ET's, or DR's were spinning out of the hole. It's not always the tire's. The track prep has alot to do with it. I honestly think I could have had better 60ft times if I would have dropped my pressure. Not a drastic amount. But some.

I've done 2.2's on street tires with no track prep, if you like the 555r's fine, I will never own another set of 555r's again, they don't hook worth crap, and require heating the crap out of them....the new Nitto nto5r drag radial is 10 times better than a 555r, I have a set on my 89, with no track prep it cut 1.7's on the nt05r's

Wow, mine would 60ft 2.20 to 2.40 on the stock 225/60VR15 Gatorbacks. It ran around 14.12 or 9.05 in the 1/8 mile.
60ft 1.72 on worn out 26x8.5" slicks running 7.96 1/8 mile times (12.44 1/4 mile). (old stock motor on NOS, not current set-up)
It's a nice looking car. I would love to have a set of 3.5 and 8.5" Centerline wheels. I always liked the satin finished ones myself.
I wish my wife was as supportive of yours. She thinks any money spent on my car, which I've had longer then her, is a waste of money. She just doesn't get it.

No offense but before you start mouthing off about how bad something is, make sure you read the thread correctly.
The other thing is, I've NEVER been to a 1/4 mile track before. This was the first time I'd ever taken the car. So for me to go from a 17 second run to a 14.7 run I'd say I was doing something right. and as for your 1.7's that you cut....I'll get you a cookie

well first off I don't have nt 555r's. I have plain old nt 555's. Not drag radials.
