3.73 gears
#5
You should be expecting about 100 miles less per tank of fuel.
You should be expecting to take off in 2nd for most of your driving.
You should be expecting to redline 4th in the quarter and if your car is fast, expect to shift into 5th.

Wrong, Wrong, and... Wrong.
3.73's will allow the engine to work easier, and can actually result in an increase in gas mileage, assuming responsible driving.
I've never needed to take off in second gear.
3.73 gears would allow you to hit 107MPH at the top of 4th gear (5200 RPM). If you car has better top end components than stock, you can usually get more RPM out of the car. At 6000 RPM, you'd be doing 123.
Please don't post if you haven't got a clue what you are talking about.

I have to agree with adder. I went with 410's and the only con I have found is a short 1st gear. No my fuel mileage is not worse and as I've said before I'd venture to say its better.
As for installing them, you will need some specific tools that even your friend may not have. You will do a lot of measuring and if he or you turns out wrong you will be out several hundred dollars, depending on what all your doing. You will tear up those gears real quick.
I would highly recommend you google how to install 8.8 gears and have your friend read up on it. You may both decide not to touch it. What I thought was going to be a 1-2 day job turned into over a week since I had to work and could only work for about an hour or two each morning and had troubles finding the correct shim thickness.

ummmmmmmm..........no
my 4.10's have me going almost 80 at 3k, i go through the traps at 5200 in 4th, so wherever your math came from, i wouldnt take any more advice from them
for the REAL answers.... yes if your buddy hasnt done gears...just pay now or pay later. if they arent done right you'll chew them up and need to redo.
what gears did you have ?? door tag will say "ax code" m=3.27 z= 3.08 and e= 3.27
for every set of gears you bump your rpm will be about 250 higher
im a 4.10 fan, i hate 3.73 cuz it leaves you wanting more... but they are a world of diff over stockers.
