nice link scottybaccus. To the OP working on manuals is usually pretty easy and strait forward, follow the link and you should do fine if you'd like to take a crack at it yourself.

Or upgrade the parts that always fail t-5 can be built strong but ended going with a jericho after destroying my tko lol so yeah driving habits do play a major role in transmissions life

Just pay attention to what measurements you have to take or you can/will have whining issues.

The T5 was only rated up to about 265 lb/ft of torque in it's best OE form. The T5z from ford motorsport was rated 330 lb/ft, but costs a fortune. Upgrading with the gear set detailed in that article is the best way to spend your money.

Beat on it long enough and any metal will fail. It doesn't have to be an *** whooping, just keep at it long enough. Buying used or rebuilding a tired transmission is just buying time.

wrong, in later years (90-93) it came with a 300 ft lb capacity rating and cobra spec was 310, after that the aftermarket z-spec comes in.

it sounds to me like ford screwed up either way, obviously people would want to have fun with these cars, why make a tranny that just barely holds the stock power?
