Question Building 306

Hey fellas!!! So i have a 92 5.0 lx and im looking to build a 306.
I want to do all forged internals, heads, cam, intake.
My biggest question is am i gonna have to change the trans and rear with the build?
Im gonna do 3:73 gears in the rear and i was thinking of having the trans build up to be stronger.
Also, i have a e303 cam thats gonna go in, full exhaust and small bolts ons.
Also, If i put street et's on the stock rear will i blow the rear off??
I have not started the build yet because im prepping for paint so if anyone has ANY advice at all to do the 306 build would help me tons!!
Ill listen to any tips/ advice.
thanks guys!!

You won't need a different trans or rear end with this build. I'd suggest selling that E303. I had one in my 306 and it wasn't great. What heads and intake are you goin with?

Im not really sure what heads or intake im going to do. I have a buddy that has arp 165cc heads or i might go with some edlebrock heads and intake. Not sure, looking for some suggestions. I want some good power out of the car

Also, anyone know where to get a full rotating assembly to build this 306 for a good price?

I'd not worry about anything but some good pistons and rods. The 5.0 block will break long before you have any crank problems.
Think about some Twisted Wedge heads but make sure you have a decent cam. Ford cams really aren't that strong, look to Comps Cams.
BTW, what sort of budget are you on? any of this stuff costs money......

do not buy a forged crank for a stock block, cause when the block splits you can look at a 1000 dollar ornament to stick in your flower gardern

I'd listen to the others on the cam. I have an E303 but when my dad and I built our car together the cam was one of the first things we bought. I like the way our car idles. Sounds healthy but I learned a lot throughout the build process and really wish we'd have gone a different route on the cam. Do some research.

Alright so what are the stock blocks rated at? hp and trq?
and also i have the option to get a motor from a buddy of mine. Its a 302 with forged internals, trw pistons, main girdle and arp bolts. he had this set up on his gt with arp 165 heads anf edlebrock carb (not on block) built rear and dog box trans with spray and the thing was a monster. I can get the motor for real cheap off him but im thinking if i dont rebuild everything i wont make power out if it? I mean could i make power out of that 302?
thanks for all the help guys

there is no specific rating, they let go when they let go, seen them hold to 450+ and seen 'em let go at 300 all depends on how it's used, power adder applications are usually what gernade them first
