Default T5-Z wont shift when warm

I have a T5-Z in my 90 GT that I bought new. Lately, it has been hard to shift into first gear after it has warmed up. While sitting at a light, I usually pop it into neutral, then when I try to shift it back into first, it feels as if I am hitting a wall. If the car is moving slightly, it will engage however. Any clues?

do you have a stock clutch cable and quadrant or aftermarket cable and quadrant?? if ifs adjustable sounds like the clutch is not fully disengaging/ needs adjusting

Thanks. Makes perfect sense. It's a Ford cable with a Steeda quadrant. Time to climb under the beast.

If it is a stock ford cable, I don't understand how you will adjust it from under the car.

Crawling under the car will not tell you much. To confirm MJR's diagnoisis. Jack up rear wheels. Run the engine. With the clutch pedal to the floor and the transmission in gear. Rear wheels should not be turning.
Does your clutch pedal engage the clutch right off the carpet? Should be about 1/2 way up.
