Question alright guys what would you do?

hey guys im kind of torn between a cam or gears.. id like to shave off a few tenths of a second on my time to break into the 13s. im assuming everyones gonna say gears but the only thing im worried about is the minimal suspension i have. only lowering springs and on street tires id probably spin hard! its either tfs stage one cam or 373s. what would you guys do? any input would be awesome! thanks

The stock rear is horrible for drag racing!

I was refering to the 2.73 gearing. It'll hold together forever. But your sixty will suffer. If your working with an AOD like me it's even worse. If you plan to stay N/A go 4.10. Or if your looking at a power adder down the road I'd go 3.55-3.73.

A cam wont net you any reasonable gains at the track. Get some gears and a stickier tire.

Gears.... NO HP gain, but going from the stock POS's to, say, 373's feels like you just bolted on 30-45 HP. No Sh*T!!! You will shave off about .5 seconds on your 0-60 time; and a Good .3-.4 on your et. Way back in 2003 when I bought my Mustang new, and stock, the 1st thing I did was gears. Now remember, I have a 'Vert, but I don't buy into the " Fact " that they are slower. At least mine wasn't. I went from an et of 14.3, granted, at the time I didn't know how to drive, down to a 13.9, consistently. As you can see from my Sig., I never looked back after that. Get gears bro; it will be the best $500 you ever spent on your Mustang.

Get gears. You won't regret it whatsoever.

Sure gears wont give you hp, but you're multiplying your torque and you can feel it. I went from a 3.08 to a 3.55 ratio and it made a very noticeable difference.

3.73 or 4.10 gears FTW! Stay out of the throttle for the first 60 ft, dont heat your tires or go through the waterbox. If you can manage the dough for some wider stickier meats, it will help you immensely. That would be my next stop, get a used set of rims and mount on some drag radials or slicks for racing. Hit up craigslist, Ill bet you can get a set for cheap.
