I don't know if I have stock gears or not but if I do I would like to change them as I am going to take the 7.5 out and put in a 8.8 over the winter. The car is a 85 5.0 5 speed Capri when in 5th at 60mph the rpms are 1900 the tires are 235-60-15 on the rear and 215-60-15 on the front. I jacked up the rear and spun the tire 1 time and the drive shaft didn't even make 2 full turns it was just a little bit short of 2 turns. I don't really want to pull the cover as I still am driving it almost everyday. There are no door codes on the car and no tag on the axle either.
Ahhh, I see.. It's possible that someone swapped in a different T5 then.. Check the ID.. If, and it's a big if, it was a T5 out of an 85 Mustang 5.0 then you would have a 3.55 rear gear.. which isn't impossible, just not likely and I didn't think they make that for a 7.5..
You spun the tire once and the driveshaft didn't make two full turns? That would mean your gear ratio is less than 2:1. That seems unlikely. I would check that again.
I have a 85 gt 5spd and i was told by guy i bought it off of that it has 3.73s in it with trac lok. When im doing 60mph in 5th rpms are at 1900. I have 7.5 rear.
Who knows what speedo gear is in it? Best way to tell the gearing without opening the pumpkin and counting gear teeth is to jack up the rear end and spin the tire.
