Default 300-400 HP on budget

Hello.
New into the mustang 302 5.0 engine
Planing on swap the 87-93 mustang engine into something else
Wanted to build at least 300 whp up to 400 whp depend on the the cost
Any idea?
Most cost effective formula.
Thanks in advance

gt40 top end and a small bit of laughing gas.... if you source your parts right, and search hard enough it can be done for a grand or less.

IMHO, Ford heads are the big choke point to the whole engine.
First item should be getting some real good heads. Ford never made a real good, modern head.
Find some used trick flows, AFR's or something. Just don't go too big on intake port port. I would go over 180cc........

A good set of aftermarket heads, Cam, intake and exhaust should get you close to 300WHP. A 150 shot will put in in the low 400s.

bluebeastsrt is 100percent correct. my fordracing crate engine was basically a stock 302 with gt40 alum heads e cam and trickflow street heat intake with 24lb injectors, i forget what i had on it for a throttle body, 65 maybe. it was like 6 years ago so i forget. but anyways u can pick up gt40 heads and a letter cam real cheap, grab a used intake and for prob around a grand have atleast 250hp to the tires. throw a 100 shot of spray on it and definately get it tuned if u go with the nitrous and be in the 325-350 range. there is obviously 50 different ways to get the same results but that would b a cheap route. small 5-6lb supercharger kit for a couple grand would get u around 300 depending on h.c.i setup is another choice. but honestly any H.C.I. setup on your 302 will at best get you around 300hp to the tires. my setup with the new engine and 24lb injectors matching maf meter throttle bottle shorty headers and a good tune made like 292 to the tires.i forget exact number, so obviously with a better heads/cam setup you may be able to squeeze a little more power from your engine but not a whole lot more. my opinion anyways

To give you an idea I'm at 365ish and about 5k deep in engine mods. That's with a used SC, larger innercooler, larger induction setup, and various supporting mods. Stock Longblock.

I would highly recommend you start at HCI though. Any decent build, even with gt40s will get you in the ballpark of 300hp. Then you don't have to backtrack should you ever look to use a power adder.
