Default 94 Mustang GT

I am looking at a 94 mustang gt to buy for $3500. It's got the 5.0. It has over 183k miles but he said he freshened it up when he took it apart to put in the E303cams, ford racing hardened pushrods, and hydraulic roller lifters, all the cam stuff such as timing chain, etc. and it has 3.73 gears with off-road h pipe into flowmasters. I was wondering if this would be a good buy and are these slow? I hear they are pretty slow but easy and cheap to add performance parts. He also has a couple YouTube videos

They'll probably get on you for this being non-tech. Anyways, I would try and talk him down. Especially with those miles

2500 doesn't sound unreasonable of an offer with that many miles, and with those mods it will be pretty peppy.

Mods don't add to value, they can actually lower value. I'm looking at the car as a whole. The motor still has 183K on it, and having upgraded all the top end without having refreshed the bottom end is a disaster waiting to happen. It doesn' t make it a bad buy, it just means that you will need to take the motor apart and rebuild the bottom side to match the new top end to eliminate the likely hood of failure.

Other aspects you wanna look at are the body and interior. The car is nearing 20 years old and obviously won't be perfect. So you wanna look out for severe wear or signs of abuse. Also keep an eye out for rust or bondo jobs.

Honestly I wouldn't give more than $2500 for the car. It's not bad, it's just old and is gonna need work.

I know plenty of people who refer to a single cam as plural when they talk. It's the environment you grow up in. Like saying shrimps or deers. Mices still kills me though. That sounds the dumbest, it's already plural!!

I lol'd at that just from personal experience of hearing it.

As for the OP's decision, I paid $3500 for my 95 with 97,000 miles on it. That car has double the miles, and like someone stated, mods don't add value. I'd agree with about the $2500 mark.

As for being fast..... No. Lol. At least not in stock form

I have $5000 for a car as of now and I was thinkin that if I could talk him down I could save some more money for a crate engine. I was lookin at one on americanmuscle.com for $3800, a ford racing 306 rated at 340 hp. I could take the car to my buddy's garage who has a cherry picker and all the tools, he just rebuilt his 4.6 DOHC Cobra motor and its sweet. And sorry for saying cams lol I've never said just cam, always cams.
