Default 347 stroker build

My father and I have recently started a 89 notchback build. The car is original a 4 cyl car and we are going to convert to a 347 stroker. We plan and having a supercharged car with possibly a shot of nitrous. Looking to use a dart block to handle the horsepower we are planing for(around 700-800). Is there anyone who has done this or is smarter than me in this type of build that has recommendations on internals for this build?

Might as well build a 363 if you're buying an upgraded block.700-800hp is alot to squeeze out of a 302 based engine though. Its basically a 347 kit stuffed inside a 302 block with a 4.125" bore vs the 4.030 bore.It cant be done to a stock block, but it can with an Dart or similar. All components internally will most definitely need to be forged though. It might be easier to go 351w stroked to a 408 to get to this power level though. Fordstrokers.com,DSS.com,CHP.com,etc are a few suppliers you can research.Whether this is gonna be a strip only or street/strip combo will also determine the parts youll need.Youre also gonna have to buy 8.8 rearend, brakes,a stout transmission, etc, etc to complete this task so you're gonna have a good chunk of change in this build by the time you're done.

We are looking to go automatic for a tranny. The car will be a street car mostly but also be able to bring to the track and have some fun. What tranny would you recommend for this kind of build.

Default 347 stroker build

Tristin_12, wbrockstar hit the nail on the head. Currently I am involved with a 1987 fox body, with a 347 stroker, 4.125 bore. The block is a CNC 4 bolt main. Yes, everything is the best. $100.00 each rod and piston. $1200.00 crank. Custom ground camshaft. Tremec TKO 600, aluminum drive shaft. Bulletproof upgraded 8.8 rear stuffed with 3.73 gears, carbon fiber clutch pads. I am also installing a 200 hit of juice to wake the motor up. The most important part of this project is installing a complete fuel system that will satisfy the needs of the HOLLEY 750,custom, carburetor and nitrous pre fuel mix. This is a $8000.00 project after it is all said and done. As far as automatic tranny goes, I would favor the ford upgraded C-4. I love the C-6 but it is a bit heavier than the C-4. I am also involved with a 363, 1200 RWHP 1988, 88mm turbo, fastback , but that is another story. To much money to calculate. P.S. I love the 408, would faver it over the 347 and 363. Also, big bucks.

Sorry but Im not familiar with the available auto transmissions that can be used in performance applications.Im more versed in manual setups. One good thing about auto's vs manuals is their consistentcy at the track.Theyre much better than manuals most of the time. However,a manual equipped Mustang is much funner to drive on the street & a manual drivetrain consumes less hp than an auto. The additional loss from an auto wont be as noticeable though on a much higher powered engine like yours.
If you haven't purchased the 8.8 differential or the gears yet,I would wait until I've decided on the transmission type first, since the ratio of gears in the transmission will affect the rpm level of the engine at cruising & wot speeds. IOW - a transmission with a .50 5th or OD gear with a 3:73 rear gear might run 2100rpm at 70mph while a transmission with a .72 gear & a 3:73 might run 2800rpm.So make sure your trans & rear gears match for the rpm level you wanna run.If you're planning to run 5 lug wheels & you haven't purchased a differential yet, there are several vehicles in the junkyards you can source the entire differential from that comes with a 5 lug setup already & some will also come with a lower set of rear gears too.A swap to carbon fiber clutch packs is a worthwhile upgrade to make before you install the differential in the car, since you're gonna be running such a high powered engine. The oem stock clutch packs are usually only good for around 25k-35k miles.Scroll through the junkyard hp list in the following link & research the brake & differential section,to detail which vehicles on the list you can source these parts from.
There are numerous other components you can source from those vehicles too.MAF sensors, aluminum driveshafts, electric fan setups,3g alternators, etc, etc.
