I'm new to the forum and new to 5.0 mustangs.. Just bought a 1990 gt minor mods..
I can across another mustang and want to know what you pros think..

http://abilene.craigslist.org/cto/3857195931.html
I have driven this car, it's very nice. 8-9psi boost. Dyno sheet to prove tuning 337rwhp and 409tq he only took it to 5k on dyno, it's an older man who loves building cars.. He has three other older cars.. The block is 100% stock..car is very very clean.. I just ordered a trick flow top end kit for my 1990.. I have a standing offer for my 1990 it has full exhaust, intake and Bama tuner.. Think the turbo mustang is worth it? I was planning on boosting the 1990, Think the stock internals will hold ok in the mustang? Run it till it blows then rebuild? All the parts in the other pictures are spare/ what where removed(stock parts)... I also have him talked down to $4800 cash.. What do you think? Worth it not having to mess with my mustang?

My plan for ether cars is a weekend cruiser and maybe a trip to 1/8 or 1/4 mile for some fun once in a while..

Well for $4800, doesn't sound like a bad deal. I know nothing about turbos, but sounds like he's not pushing too much boost at 337 ponies. Stock internals should be fine, as long as it was maintained. That torque makes for a great street car. Someone will chime in who knows more about turbo cars.

Is this a 5-speed or auto? If auto, I'd baby that aod as much as you can.

It's a 5 speed, turbo setup only has about 5,000 miles on it. It's running 9psi of boost, 373 gears. If I put
The tf heads on I will for sure try to find a better head gasket and rods I've read there weak points on boosted mustangs please chime I'm if I'm wrong..

Welcome to the board.
I really don't trust stock blocks and internals when ANY boost is put to them.
BTW, the guy trying to sell the car probably don't either. That's why he only took to 5000 on that dyno test, with those HP/torque numbers, he's not making that much power.
He must have gotten the prototypes from Lakewood on those shocks because I've never heard of them in 40+ years of car hobbying......

Thanks I tried looking into the parts list and receipts he has just to dig into how much he has into the car.. Found this on the shock http://m.summitracing.com/parts/lak-40511. I think if I do sell mine and pick up this one I found a 302 long block for $175 maybe get that and build it until stock block goes boom? Lol

For what it's worth. The shop that helped me build my car feels the stock block is good to about 500WHP. The nice thing about turbos is you can tune them to make any kind of power you want just by upping or lowering the boost.

Yep, thats the same shock as I'm using on the front of my drag car.
Good shock but it's non-adjustable.
Sort of a 'race only' type part.......

I would say when you go to put the heads on it go ahead and put some forged rods and dished pistons in and you can crank the boost and nail an easy 500 . depending on how much the turbo can put out but im guessing the turbo will max you around 15psi. so maybe you can roll stock pistons but id get dished with a FI setup anyways so there is always more room for power

I just read a few post that say 88-92 had forged internals? Anyone confirm or deny this? Please help I'm about to sell my car tomorrow and buy this other one.. It would make me feel a little better know if this is true
