I am looking to buy my first Mustang and found this in my local Craigslist. It is a 1988 Gt with a motor knock but does run. It also needs a front bumper and headlight. It also has some back tags that I am trying to find out how much they are. He wants $850 or best offer. I tried to attach a pic hope it works.

I don't know what back tags means, Im assuming some tax thing or something.

I wouldn't give more that 600 for it in that condition but Id offer 450. Of course opinions will vary and it is worth what ever someone is willing to pay for that year fox.

Why's the bumper off? Was it in a wreck? Is there frame damage? All very important things to look for. Personally if there is ANY frame damage I walk away. You can't build a nice car if you don't start with a nice base.

He said it was never in a wreck. My main thing is the engine knocking. Oh and the back tags refer to owing back vehicle registration with the DMV.

Not sure that its a pos but with the back taxes I'd pass. You have no idea how much they are and might get stuck with well over what the car is worth.
