^^^^^^^ What tin man said. A big block 60's muscle car was just a cheap used car in the early 80's. Way cheaper to go fast than start with a 157 HP new mustang.

I bought and still have my 82Gt in Late February that year, it was early in the GT release, as it does not have a GT badge on the hatch, but it has a GT decal. This was the start of today's horsepower wars. In 1982 the GT was the quickest north American manufactured car, even quicker than the vette or redesigned Z28. Read the Motor trend article on this car, it is what made me buy it.
