Default 1995 GT Convertible pricing question

I have been looking for a car for my 17 year old daughter to drive and came across a 1995 GT Convertible at a local dealer. Car is super clean and only has 41,000 miles. Carfax is clean with only 2 owners. Problem is they have the car priced way over book by about $5000. Lot price is listed at $13,999, but they also have it listed for $10,995 on Autotrader. NADA books the car at about $5500 and KBB books it at $6500 fair market value. I tried to get them down, but they won't budge. According to Crafax the car was bought at auction and put on the lot to sale. Am I missing something that this car would garner this kind of price?

That car is Soooooooooo over priced!!! There has got to be about a million better cars for a 17 year old. Might want to check and see if the guy is a crack dealer. He sure does seam like he's smoking crack for that price.

Thank you!!!! I thought I was missing something about the car. This is not some fly by night back road car lot, this is a reputable very large Ford Dealership that I have bought cars from before. The only thing I can figure is they paid too much at auction, but then again why would they. Maybe the guy I was dealing with just did not want to help. Thanks for the reply.

Used cars are selling for premium at dealers everywhere. There's a sucker born every day and a buyer will find them. You are doing the right thing walking away as mustangs are a dime a dozen and won't take you long to find another.

Run, don't walk away from that place. They are certifiably nuts for wanting that kind of money for that car.......

Too much $$. No one is going to buy that car for that price. It is only a matter of time before they drop the price. Keep an eye on it.

Funny you should say that. They have called me a few times trying to get me in, but I am not budging. I told them what I would pay, but they just tell me it is a classic with low miles. I just laugh! The car started out at $13,999, then $10,999, then $9998 and now they have it listed for $8999. Still over book by about $2000. I keep watching it and when they finally come to their senses I may grab it, but not before.
