General information 95 5.0 GL Automatic Transmission
I've looked for & have never located what I believe was a transmission drain plug for this vehicle. Is there such an animal? If not, can someone please advise me on a good method to drop that pan & change the fluid/filter? Also, what is the capacity of the system?
Thanks

There is no drain plug , you just put a big pan under it and start loosening bolts till you can get one end of the pan to drop a little and have the fluid start coming out. Its messy no matter what you do.
Im not 100% sure on the AODE but I believe you will need 12-13 quarts of fluid.

As posted, it requires dropping the pan. That is ofcourse, as long as someone hasn't installed an aftermarket pan with a drain plug.
The full capacity of the transmission is about 13.9 quarts, but that also covers everuthing in the fluid circuits, cooler lines, cooler, converter... etc.
I'd be shocked if you had to put more than 8 quarts back in. That being said, I buy my transmission fluid by the 12 pack... That way I always have some!
