fair offers for these 2 verts?? transaction tips?
hey all
thinking of picking up one of these for no particular reason (i dont need another car really)
red:
http://southjersey.craigslist.org/cto/4655622578.html
green:
http://easternshore.craigslist.org/cto/4663475202.html
for the red im thinking around $700 and green about $1600, but i have no reason really for each estimate. just guesswork really.
i dont really want to insult these guys with ridiculous lowball offers, but on the other hand, i dont want to overpay.
anything special to look for when checking out the car?
the other thing is, so are there any things i need to do during the transaction to protect myself? carfax? use a check instead of cash? check vin? pray?
any thoughts would be appreciated
thanks

I personally think those prices are insulting and if I were offered those numbers I would tell you to not even come look or tell you to get off my property which I have done to people before
but that's just my opinion

I agree, that is a big time low ball offer on those cars,,, personally I think the red one is priced to low already , but I don't know the actual condition, But I think for 1800 Id ****** it up quick especially if it has the cobra upper and lower intakes on it now. Those fetch about 500 used on ebay.
I paid 3k for the silver 86 I just bought and I think I got a good deal on it with some meat left on the bone after I do a little work to it.

lol 1600 for the clypso vert............that's about as insulting as it gets, that car is in decent shape.....3000-3200 might pick it up, 1600 might get you a swift kick in the ****

Neither car is horrible. I'd offer 27 on the green car and work from there but wouldn't pay more than three for it. The red car you can probably get for 15 which is a pretty good price just going by the pictures. Buying from craigs list is always dicey and most people wont take a check unless your willing to wait for it to clear before you receive the title. I usually just take cash and a gun. LOL. make sure vin. matches title and make sure it's not a salvage title when buying. There's a million 5.0s in jersey so if it don't pan out just keep looking.

Don't be insulting with your offers, I agree with blue's starting prices, then go up. Be respectful and you'd be surprised how that works in your favor. Now both those cars have been listed for at least a month and they're still there so there is definitely some room for negotiations. Good luck
