Default Buying back 91 5.0 LX vert I stupidly sold a couple years ago.....

Found the guy in ks that bought it off of the guy I sold it to. Waiting on a small issue to clear, and will HOPEFULLY have it back this week. White, black top, red interior. Loved the car, regretted selling it just months later, as my wife got a promotion and big increase in pay at her job, and made it a lot easier to have. Car is in need of a few things. Top was only about a year old when I bought it, now it has a slight rip in it. I am considering repainting the black raised molding on the outside of the car, to make it stand out a bit more. The body is rust free, the paint is decent, although the front bumper might use a touch up. Have my first kid on the way, so I don't have a ton of money to put into it. The interior is in great shape, all it really needs is the ash tray fixed, which I intend to order the parts from late model soon.

Very excited.

Oh, the speedo needle bumps around at low speed now. Need to fix that, but no idea where to start. Low speeds, less than 30, it bounces. At highway it is steady.....Ideas?

Oh, and how to fix the rip to at least make it waterproof? I was told a pool patch might work? I know it won't be pretty, but I won't be able to replace the top for at least a year.....

Do you have any pictures of the car now?

As for the speedometer, it could either be the gear on the end of the speed sensor, the cable or the head unit itself. I would pull the speed sensor on the transmission and check the nylon gear for missing teeth since that's likely the easiest thing for you to check. Since its only at low speeds it could just be that the cable needs to be lubed or maybe even replace the cable if that doesn't fix it.

My old 87 did the same thing and I just decided to live with it because I could still manage to tell approximately how fast I was going haha. If you do a quick search on Google you will find loads of details on this since it is a really common problem with fox's.

Congrats on finding your old car. Were you looking for it or did you just happen upon it?

Wife was looking at classics on craigslist. I actually favor the fox bodies, specifically the 90-91. I started looking at 91's, and found it on craigslist. Wasn't POSITIVE, until the guy sent me pics. I'll see if I can load a few....

Again, a little dirty, but nothing a solid cleaning can fix. Car is a gem under the dust. It has a good vaccuum, steam cleaning, washing, waxing, and armoral coming to it asap when I get it.

Oh, guy added a subwoofer and extra amp in the trunk. Do you think he had to upgrade the alternator to do that? I thought the factory standard one was too weak for that kind of stuff......

Depending on the size of the sub and amp. I have a 12" with 400 watt amp running it , and still have the stock alt. It's been fine, but I really don't crank the tunes much anymore, except when ABBA gets played

I should add though, upgradeding the Alt. is on the list when this one goes.

Oh, and congrats on that vert, that'll be a nice ride. Looks good
