Default 1994 Mustang Project Nightmare

So I picked myself up a 1994 mustang gt project only paid 1k and it ran and drove decent no super faults smoked a little in the exhaust and idiled a little funny but that's it. Now I have found some other issues and im looking for some one who knows these cars well for some guidance.

1st. Engine idles low and a little rough around 800rpm and then goes up and smooths out nice but idles at aroung 1700. thinking maybe vacuum leak

2nd. When the engine is at low rpms its fine but at higher rpms I found oil had been shot all over driver side engine compartment. On the valve cover, master cylinder, bottom of intake manifold, around dipstick, and on plug wires and exhaust manifold. At which point it burns and stinks. No idea

3rd. at lower rpm's its fine but up around 4500 and up while driving the exhaust shoots out heavy smoke seems whitish maybe a hint of blue. Don't know if this is possible head gasket or not. Cant really tell cause only happens while driving.

4th. Speedo is off between 8-14mphs depending on speed and I don't know why im almost positive the rear end is original. open rear end one wheel wonder.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Now I did purchase a used motor with low miles to swap but I would like to know whats going on with this motor so I can either sell it or rebuild it if its worth it maybe get it running better till I can swap it out.

Well welcome to the forum, and the wonderful world of Mustangs.

First, your right on track with the idle. Vacuum leaks are usually the culprit to idle surge. You may want to pull codes from the computer to get a more accurate picture of what the computer is seeing.

The oil bath may be coming from the pressure sending unit. Unless your running any aftermarket oil pressure gauge, then check that line for leaks.

White smoke indicates head gasket, but to verify. They sell these strip tests that you dip in your coolant that tells you if you have hydrocarbons in it.

If your speedo is off that much, chances are you have steeper gears than factory. And your clutches are worn out in your posi, both tires should be spinning.
