I was pretty happy with the service that I received when I bought my engine from Jim. After a good hard 8000 or so miles, the engine was a bit worse for wear. I wiped out the thrust bearing (which was entirely my fault) back in 2009-2010. The car sat from Aug '10 til Sept '11, and ran until Jan '12. When I tore it down, I found CONSIDERABLE amounts of damage to the cylinder walls. The rings were not gapped wide enough for how I was using the engine, this caused the top ring gap to close and force an edge out into the cylinder wall. Cylinders 3, 5 and 8 were all scraped deep enough for me to get rid of the engine.

Just curious. How were you using the engine? I plan to run the car all motor 90% of the time and spray a 300 progressive shot every once in a while.

My engine was not gapped for nitrous. I didn't run a very big shot, and I didn't use it often. The bearing clearances were also very tight.

New photo from Fordstrokers today. Block has a Callie's forged crank and some wiseco forged pistons stuffed in it. Woohoo.

ask for you clearances.
Mains
Rods
Piston to wall
ring gap

And if he tells you to use 0w20 oil, like he told me... be worried.

He is supposed to supply me with that info. He also told me to use 30 weight oil on break in. He did do something interesting. I supplied him with my 6.70 push rods. He used half of them and used 6.75 rods for the others and told me that this is the optimal set up for the valve geometry on the twisted wedge heads. Never heard of this but he told me it's common with the trick flow heads. After I read your first post I went back and checked my receipt to make sure he used rings that are set up for nitrous so I'm good on that front.

I saw were some people were saying the pushrods can be like that on the trick flow heads. Mine came out to be 7.000 and 7.050 with the 11r heads. I think the exhaust was the .050 longer one.

yes exhaust side on mine also. Jim told me the same length rods on the TFSheads are ok just not optimal. Learn something new every day.
