I have 94 GT and do not want to tear back into my tranny (T5) just to change the speedo gear. Just throwing this out there and wondering if any of you have tried out any GPS Speedo's or GPS Speedo Sensors...... A dallas mustang speed cal will work much better.

If these work like the Garmin GPS-they will not work in tunnels or really bad weather. I'd be curious on how fast it updates, my Garmin seems about .25 seconds behind the speedometer.

yea every gps I ever used was way off on the speed. Plus any place where there is interference such as trees or tall buildings will make it stop reading for how ever long it takes to lock back on to a satellite.

Yeah, I forgot about a trip to Downtown Chicago, GPS was worthless!! Also may cut out near airports. I use mine to double check my speed- the 2012 speedo is hard to read-the wide needle covers the numbers, but I wouldn't want the regular speedo to run on the GPS.
I typically use the Tach -2,000 RPM ( in my car) in 3rd is 28 mph, 4th is 38 mph, 5th is 48 mph, 6th is 65 mph.

Thanks for the input so far guys. The idea was planted by watching an advertisement from SEMA Show for Auto Meter.... They are saying GPS Speedo's are pretty accurate.... Was just curious to see if anybody here has tried it...... Dawson I will check out the Dallas Mustang Speed Cal...... I have been running my GPS to get Idea about my speed have not gotten a ticket yet. Lol I do know I am about 10 to 12 mph off tilt.

Last time I checked into GPS (for stuff outside of cars), a single GPS reading is only accurate to within 3 meters.

The problem, is that 2 consecutive readings can be up to 6 meters apart, even for stationary objects, which would be 3mph. And that's for a stationary object.

The only reason phones are as accurate as they are is they take readings of available wifi networks around you, and triangulate using information gathered from Google street-view vans. GPS gets them close, but Google takes them the rest of the way.

I'm pretty sure there's away to retrofit wheel speed sensors from later model cars into the earlier ones.

But when it comes down to it, wouldn't it just be easier to take it to a shop and pay em' a few hundred dollars at most (probably closer to 150) to have them swap out the speedo gears?

Been doing a little research myself, finding the biggest issue would be the refresh rate, Auto Meter has a 10 time per second every second, refresh rate,,, This is not bad at all, actually pretty good or damn good, Cell Phone will only update every 3 -8 seconds ( otherwise your battery will die and yes there is more to it!) Have not found a bad review yet! Going to order one and find out!!!!!

The difference between 1 Hz and 10 Hz position update rate. A vehicle driving at 60 mph travels 88 feet in a second. Since position update is ten times more frequent, the record of the vehicle's trail is shown much smoother at 10 Hz position update than at 1 Hz position update. ________________ 10hz - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 1hz Most al your new GPS have a pretty high refresh rate now!!!!!
