Hey,

I have a 1995 Mustang GT 5.0L Convertible that i am trying to sell. Showed it to a guy yesterday and during his drive he wanted to test what what it was like to start in '1' instead of Drive. When he did this it seemed quite hard for the car to start and then when it got going it was fine.

To me this seemed normal and when i tried it, it felt more as if it was really low gearing but he wasn't sure. He is going to talk to his transmition guy about it however i thought i would reach out to you guys and see if someone knew if this is normal?

sounds like a bull****ter in my opinion, or someone trying to scare you into a lower price.

could be just an AODE thing, shift pattern is P-R-N-OD-3-1 I believe, found this on another forum:
When in 3rd, if you downshift into 1 it will put the car in 2nd.
When starting from a stop if you put it in 1 it will put the car in first, you can then click up to 3 and then pull back to 1 and it will shift the car and hold 2nd gear. Then you can click up to 3 and it will shift into 3rd.

if he was rolling in 3rd and pulled it back to 1 it would be in 2nd and accelerate like crap. it would only shift to 1st if he was completely stopped. He could know this and try to be using it to trick you into thinking it has tranny problems.
