Battery Gauge reads low

Been in the situation as you described 88. Plus I have dual electric fans and when I run the defroster my a/c kicks in. I'll upgrade someday.

So I'm asking because I don't know are you saying to change to 3G wiring? Then can I keep the same alternator or does that need to be changed too?

Yes, you'll need a new alternator.

Had battery and alternator checked at local Ford Dealership and both checked out good.

That's great, but if your still running the stock alternator, it's only a 75 amp alternator. If you throw any load at it while idling, it won't keep up. Hence the reason for a 130 amp upgrade. The gauge will stop dropping at idle, even with wipers on, headlights, blower motor, and electric fans all on.
