Default Cold air intake for 2015- opinions requested

Im sure there are some 2015 GT owners who have already installed a cold air intake. Just wanted to get some opinions on which ones are worth the money and btw dont require any tuning after install? This is my first Mustang EVER and I gotta say so far it is a COMPLETE Blast! Glad I made the move.

Any suggestions/recommendations would really be appreciated!!! Thanks!!

The Airaid unit has a very good construction & was a very popular choice among the Mustang crowd for the 2011 - 14 Mustang. You can check it out here:

We are still developing our system & we will have a unit without requiring a tune.

Here is a photo of the 2015 Airaid Intake:

Welcome to the forum.

You do NOT need a CAI. If you look under your hood you will see that your car is already equipped with one.

CAIs are a thing of the past and today's advanced engines can only benefit from an aftermarket unit in extreme cases. If you do get one, a "tune-free" unit will give you zero gains over the stock unit other than sounding louder than what you have now.

Instead of throwing $300, $350, $400!! at a CAI put that towards something that will actually give you noticeable gains in cosmetic appearance or performance / handling improvement. The alleged improvements from a CAI actually come from the tune so you can skip the CAI and just go with the tuner.

The stock intake in the new 2015 GT doesn't say cold air induction like the previous 5.0 intake said. Don't know if it's still considered to be one or not, though.

why even bother with this airaid? its still in a box just like the stock air intake. in my opinion it is pointless to install this.

This IS a cold air intake. Far better than Ford has ever offered before.

They come with CAIs. Most of the aftermarket units are not cold air...they are open topped and pull in air from the engine bay. They exist for looks only. If you have forced induction then it may be time to upgrade your intake otherwise your stock unit provides more than enough air.

Reference the Boss 302. No aftermarket junk intake. If magical horsepower could be gained from swapping out the stock unit you can bet your life savings Ford would do it - especially on a vehicle like the Boss Mustang.

There's an episode of Jay Leno's Garage on YouTube where one of the chief engineers is on the show. The guy is one of the people that essentially built the recent Mustangs. He, and others, have been saying all along that you cannot do better than stock.

The aftermarket companies throw all sorts of numbers at you - and it's all a joke. Think about it - a hollow plastic tube for several hundred dollars. That is pure nonsense. You could do much much more with that money other than a few theoretical horses that might only exist at 6,000 RPMs.

.
Once the car is moving all the intakes get fresh air coming in thru the front of the car. The difference is with the stock unit the engine has this little pinched off snorkel its trying to breath thru and the aftermarket ones are open.

Its like you trying to breath thru a straw versus a garden hose. Which is easier?
